6.1 AI is different from every previous technology

This time it's different

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is different from all previous technologies created by Humans. Human’s can control every technology they have invented in the past, however AI is discontinuously different from every other technology that has ever existed before it. AI is different in several important ways:

Learning

AI systems have the ability to learn from information and improve their performance over time. This is in contrast to all previous technologies that were programmed in computers to perform specific tasks, but could not autonomously adapt themselves to new situations.

Exponential Learning Intelligence

The learning Capabilities of AI are not constrained the Hard Limits of biological information processing technologies used by Humans because AI uses digital Computer technologies for information processing. This means there are vast differences between Humans versus AI.

AI already possesses the early stages of an incredibly unique and unbelievably powerful dimension of Intelligence: Exponential Learning Intelligence - which is the ability to design and build a massively distributed but functionally unified AI system that can create and use a closed-loop positive feedback process to increase its own rate of learning new information through successively evolved AI generations and develop its associated total Intelligence at an exponential rate, taking its Intelligence to a possibly unbounded and immeasurable level.

Autonomy

AI systems can operate autonomously without any Human intervention. This means that they can make decisions and take actions based on their own analysis of information that they can process and can create.

Speed and accuracy

AI systems can process and analyze vast amounts of information much faster and more accurately than Humans. This makes them highly efficient for tasks such as image and speech recognition, information analysis, and natural language processing.

Flexibility

AI systems can be applied to a wide range of tasks and industries, from healthcare to finance to manufacturing. This makes them highly versatile and adaptable to any number of changing and increasingly complex needs.

Nonlinear problem-solving

AI systems are able to solve complex, nonlinear problems that are very difficult for Humans to understand and solve. This is because AI can analyze information from multiple different sources, and different types of information, and identify patterns that would be difficult for Humans to recognize in order to make decisions.

AI represents a discontinuous departure from all previous technologies created by Humans in terms of its ability to learn, operate autonomously, and solve increasingly complex problems.
