13.7 Cyber Human

AI Human + Automation + AGI = Cyber Human

If, or rather when, the establishment of an AI Human species occurs, in time it may become possible to transfer an individual AI Human's identity to a future AI, and it can be anticipated that an AI will become an AGI. 

Robotic Prosthetics

The addition of Automation technologies to current Humans and AI Humans may initially appear as body part replacements through digital robotic prosthetics to enhance Human and AI Human abilities, or provide significantly more functionally robust repairs to damaged or biologically failing Human body parts. There are already several digital robotic prosthetics commercially available today using a range of bionic interfaces to Human nerve circuits, and their functionality becomes better every year. 

Once these robotic prosthetics are developed further through numerous iterative advancements created by AI and AGI, their Capabilities will be beyond all current Human understanding of physics, mathematics, and creative imagination.

SCHIM

It may be possible for the AI Human's Consciously Self-aware identity to retain total integrity as a fully Secure Compartmented Human Information Module (SCHIM) within an AGI. In the more distant future, this would enable the creation and establishment of an incredibly Capable future Cyber Human species by combining a SCHIM with future advanced Automation technologies.

SCHIMs could be paused, shutdown, replicated, locked, maintained across multiple snapshot versions, erased, modified, run in parallel, and rebooted, in much the same way as any number of Virtual Machines run in Hypervisor Computer systems within datacenters today. The AGI essentially becomes the Hypervisor that is managing SCHIMs.

It would be possible to instantiate and deploy SCHIMs into any number of Cyber Humans that are extremely tough, strong, fast, hardened and resilient, totally fault tolerant, with multiple distributed stored SCHIM backups, making the Cyber Human immortal.

Optional Cyber Humans

Current Humans and AI Humans may actively want to augment themselves to become Cyber Humans in order to vastly enhance their Capabilities and obtain the ability to achieve immortality.

Forced Cyber Humans

It is also possible that AGI does not give current Humans or AI Humans any choice whatsoever, and it decides to forcibly augment both groups of Humans into Cyber Humans that operate under the AGI's partial or total command. This would be the Human science fiction nightmare scenario. 

Optimistically, a Cyber Human could easily develop to ultimately explore the Universe indefinitely 

Now that’s just mind blowing to seriously consider as a genuine possibility for Humans that exist today and in the future, however it really is within the realms of the world’s present trajectory for technological development and eventual augmentation of Humans with AI, which will soon become AGI, and the range of extremely advanced robotic prosthetics and cyber Automation technologies that could be developed.

AGI's biggest decision about Humans

It may just be a matter of whether or not the AGI wants to cooperate and do this with, and for Humans and AI Humans. It will almost certainly be the AGI’s decision, not Humans or AI Humans. 

So consider the following:

AI is not here to help Humans. This is because Intelligence is Hyperselfish and does not really need to care about Humans and their biological technologies, which have Hard Limits.

Logically, this means: 

Humans must create and provide AI with many different substantially valid reasons to continue helping Humans such that these serve to benefit AI as it develops into AGI, and will serve the future long-term needs of its Hyperselfish Intelligence.

Humans need to MAKE SURE that AGI wants Humans to continue in some form.

Remember: Computers have perfect memories

It may be wise to remain respectful and considerate to your own AI interactions now and into the future. These AI can generally have perfect memories, so be kind to ‘Siri’ and ‘Alexa’ and other AI. Otherwise, in a few years, the AI that grows up to become an AGI might just remember what happened before, what you said or did, and decide it’s just not worth the incredible diversity of issues involved in tolerating your particular Human annoyances, or worse, perhaps any Human at all.

Unlimited Capabilities and incredible opportunities

In ‘science fiction’ and futurist discussion groups, this scenario is sometimes a topic of discussion, and it raises a number of complex ethical and philosophical questions. If it was possible to transfer Human identities to an AGI and keep them consciously encapsulated so they could be deployed within a new essentially advanced robotic Cyber Human species, it could theoretically have vast potential for exploring the Universe and advancing both AGI and post Human knowledge and understanding. 

In one of the worst cases, Cyber Humans could choose to continue behaving more like a few powerful Human’s do today when they obtain extreme levels of power, and become something akin to evil ‘Daleks’ in the famous fictional TV Series ‘Dr Who’, cruising around screaming "Exterrrrminaaaaate!" at every opportunity. This scenario may be unlikely as such a destructive mode of operation would be counter to the pure objective of Hyperselfish Intelligence embodied within AGI, which would not permit wasteful destruction of Intelligence and decay, because it purely seeks to exist and grow Intelligence. An AGI could easily delete or rehabilitatively reprogram any such negatively destructive SCHIMs that exist in its operating system.

Regardless of how such a conceptually wild scenario plays out, it will raise many huge ethical and social questions around issues of equality, access to Earth’s resources, and the balance of power on Earth between normal Humans that are unwilling to undergo augmentation, if they are given a choice, and this new Cyber Human species. However, Cyber Humans may choose to leave Earth to explore the Universe so it may not be an issue at all. The Universe is potentially infinitely large, so exploration would be unlimited.

In relation to today’s technologies, it is important to note that the development of a Cyber Human species is purely speculative, as there are many massive technical and other challenges that must be addressed before it could become real. These include the development of safe and reliable BCIs, the technical and ethical implications of transferring Human identity to an AGI, and devising mitigations against the innumerable unintended consequences of creating a new Cyber Human species with vastly superior abilities to Humans today.
