13.8 Hexamon Human

The future of Humans is unbounded

For Humans today, there are an infinite number of possible futures for the current Human civilization. 

The worst possible outcome of all would be the complete cessation and total erasure of Humans and everything that Humanity has ever learned, created, and recorded. Such absolute waste is difficult to imagine, but it is certainly possible given all the devastating weaponry on Earth.

A simple unassailable truism is that Humans get to decide their future and get to create it, but only if Humans plan and work for it. That's free will.

In 1985, the brilliant science fiction writer, Greg Bear, published a book called ‘EON’, that included many astounding technologically advanced ideas for the time and are still to this day [38]. Among these ideas was:

The  evolutionary development of a future Human civilisation called the Hexamon, who possessed control over genetic engineering, Human augmentation, advanced symbolic communications, the ability to manipulate space-time, move between parallel universes, and alternate timelines. 

Hexamon technology was also able to reconstruct biological Human body replicas from 21st century. Some Hexamon Humans had implants that stored, transmitted, and replicated parts or of all memory and personality. Hexamon Humans had many abilities. They could create “partial" or "ghost" virtual replicas of themselves, that contained functional parts of their full personality and were able to operate independently, on their behalf, and then reintegrate the learned experiences with the original Hexamon Human later. 

In the event of major injury or even death of a Hexamon Human, their implants (if recoverable and undamaged) could be used to "reload" their personalities into artificially reconstructed replicas of their Hexamon Human bodies, or even into entirely new physical body forms. 

However, the Hexamon Humans were limited to only two "reincarnations" before their personalities were permanently stored in the Hexamon civilisation’s central system [an extremely advanced AGI], where they continue to exist in purely virtual form. 

This idea of Hexamon Humans might at first seem totally outlandish to conceptualize and think possible, however it is important to realize that Humans do not really have experience or understand how to predict the behavior of extremely non-linear exponential systems, and the development of AI and AGI are such systems. It's likely that Ray Kurzweil is right and 'The Singularity is Near'. VERY NEAR.

Now, stepping back and really thinking about this wild idea created by Greg Bear, it seems that right now AI development is on a trajectory to become an AGI, and if this really happens, it presents opportunities for Humans that may be potentially unlimited. ACTUALLY UNLIMITED !

Future Human civilization may have unbounded opportunity if it consciously chooses to perpetuate itself through appropriate strategic planning and the implementation of structured tactical actions with AI now. The path will not be easy to navigate, and some particular mistakes could easily render the Human species extinct. The evolution of the Future of the Human species really is a choice, if Humans want it today, and are prepared to diligently work for it in the coming months and years.
